“Work It Out & Keep Your Mind Right! Stay at Home Exercise Routines…for Kids Too!”

On a daily basis, life is hectic. With covid-19 running rampant, the government says everything is on pause now re-opening, BUT, it feels like everything is strangely going 2x’s faster with EVERYTHING, but, WE’RE AT HOME GOING CRAZY! Its insane, Right! So, I have to keep my mind right. I have to say that again…”I GOT TO KEEP MY MIND RIGHT!!!!!!” Do you hear the words coming out of my mouth? “I -GOT- TO- KEEP- MY- MIND- RIGHT!” The main way I stay sane is by remaining CONNECTED & UNDERNEATH GOD, but also, I HAVE TO KEEP IT MOVING AND, MANAGE MY STRESS!!!!

The stresses around me, bad news everywhere, the ability to snack all day…homeschooling…worry, cares and concerns for family, let’s just say all these elements are conducive for extreme weight gain and losing your mind…sooooo…one way I keep my faith up and sanity close is by pumping worship 24 hours a day. It calibrates the house, keeps me faith focused and consistently worshipping. Prayer and mediation is my main focus, but there’s more. I also have to take mental breaks and incorporate stress managing techniques throughout the day.

This summer, I had to definitely find ways to cope with stress. Check out the list below. My go-to: grounding (taking my shoes off, walking bare, blasting African music while I practice free movement), deep breathing (deep breath in, hold for 10 second, power blow out), a walk outside or going by the water, practicing gratitude and saying out loud what I am grateful for, reminding myself when things interupt or disrupt my mood, I say out loud “be flexible…just flow with the moment’ and I deep breathe. Also, I take mental breaks now. I’m the type that runs until I drop. Now, I pause and go lay down, eat or dance or whatever to regulate that pace. Now that school is about to be back in order full swing, I have to arm and prepare myself and build an anti-stress fortress around my life, so I made my mind up, I’m not going crazy with home-school.

In prayer, I told myself and God, I want to come out of this pandemic BETTER…not BIGGER & BITTER. So, all throughout the day, you’ll find me in prayer while doing the million things I do in the middle of homeschooling. In addition, you will also find me power walking, dancing to some Christian Workout music, for fun, some hard Michael Jackson remixes, dancing to DNICE’s club quarantine on IG and bumping it out on my elliptical.

The gym was really my thing, but now that the gym is off the table and recently, I tore my meniscus, I’m limited. So, I have to lean on my elliptical to keep me moving. But, I just couldn’t do that all day because its boring. I like to move it move it…I want to hear some beats pumping, bass thumping and I want to sweat a little.

So before my baby girl and I start our day and start this God-forsaking homeschooling process, Argh and double Arrgghhh, LOL (I’m just joking…nah, I’m serious…) we start our day with my elliptical routine and GoNoodle with my Elizabeth. It’s so much fun seeing her exercise. It’s not just the adults putting on weight, it’s the kids too, so I have to keep her moving.

Also recently, I joined my Sister-in-Law, Sonya Redd, for her live ZOOM “Praise-Break Sculpt” class. It was awesome and we moved our bodies and spirits simultaneously. She’s the founder of Vicarious, Fitness through Christ.”

I’ve watched her perfect her craft for years and she has worked with countless people including my husband. You can book her for private sessions including ZOOM sessions during this pandemic. So, we have no excuse!!! We have to do that darn thing, move and be proactive in managing stress.

Below is also a playlist of some of our favorite at home exercise routines. Also, I’ve included some music just to dance too. If you’re not a big exerciser, dancing will do too…just keep it moving. You’ll find some motivation for your mind too…so let’s Work it out and keep it moving…not just for our bodies, but to keep our minds right too. Enjoy!!!!!
