“The Journey To Obtaining Your Promise-land: Be Alert & Ready To Counter-Attack When The Enemy Fights You Back” Part 6

The one thing you have to expect from the enemy when you’re getting the victory in certain areas of your life is to expect the unexpected.  Expect the enemy at any moment to show up and cause all hell to break loose to thwart you from obtaining your promise, which is what’s happening in our family right now.

In Joshua 10: 1-5(GNT), it reads,

“Adonizedek, the king of Jerusalem,[a] heard that Joshua had captured and totally destroyed Ai and had killed its king, just as he had done to Jericho and its king. He also heard that the people of Gibeon had made peace with the Israelites and were living among them. 2 The people of Jerusalem were greatly alarmed at this because Gibeon was as large as any of the cities that had a king; it was larger than Ai, and its men were good fighters. 3 So Adonizedek sent the following message to King Hoham of Hebron, King Piram of Jarmuth, King Japhia of Lachish, and to King Debir of Eglon: 4 “Come and help me attack Gibeon, because its people have made peace with Joshua and the Israelites.” 5 These five Amorite kings, the kings of Jerusalem, Hebron, Jarmuth, Lachish, and Eglon, joined forces, surrounded Gibeon, and attacked it.

The men of Gibeon sent word to Joshua at the camp in Gilgal: “Do not abandon us, sir! Come at once and help us! Save us! All the Amorite kings in the hill country have joined forces and have attacked us!”

The Gibeonites we’re scared to death and I don’t blame them.

Hands down, being attacked by the enemy is wearisome, hurtful, damaging, discouraging, frightful and at times, simply shocks and knocks you off your feet.  When you’re doing your best to just move ahead, when it’s been hard enough to gain enough traction to just move forward in your life, when you’re trying to just pick up the pieces from the last storm you’ve been through, when you’ve just got your mind right to begin fighting again, when you haven’t caught your breath from the last set-back, WHAAAMM, here comes another storm, another challenge or ANOTHER set-back.

From my family and I being in ministry, the enemy is always working against us and he doesn’t fight fair either. He’ll attack your home, finances, job, possessions, he’ll operate through people, circumstances, family, kids etc. If that’s not enough, if he can’t get you, he’ll begin to attack those closest to you, the ones you love like your kids, parents and other family members, he’ll come for your job, church etc. And if that’s not enough, he’ll send demonic spiritual attacks to wear you out so he can sucker punch you right off your feet.  He’ll pull out the big guns, which is what he’s doing to our family, but you know what, our God and His guns are even BIGGER!!!!!!!

As we continue to read Joshua 10: 7-12, it says,

” 7 So Joshua and his whole army, including the best troops, started out from Gilgal. 8 The Lord said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid of them. I have already given you the victory. Not one of them will be able to stand against you.” 9 All night Joshua and his army marched from Gilgal to Gibeon, and they made a surprise attack on the Amorites. 10 The Lord made the Amorites panic at the sight of Israel’s army. The Israelites slaughtered them at Gibeon and pursued them down the mountain pass at Beth Horon, keeping up the attack as far south as Azekah and Makkedah. 11 While the Amorites were running down the pass from the Israelite army, the Lord made large hailstones fall down on them all the way to Azekah. More were killed by the hailstones than by the Israelites.

12 On the day that the Lord gave the men of Israel victory over the Amorites, Joshua spoke to the Lord. In the presence of the Israelites he said,

“Sun, stand still over Gibeon;
Moon, stop over Aijalon Valley.”
13 The sun stood still and the moon did not move until the nation had conquered its enemies. This is written in the Book of Jashar. The sun stood still in the middle of the sky and did not go down for a whole day.

14 Never before, and never since, has there been a day like it, when the Lord obeyed a human being. The Lord fought on Israel’s side!”

What The Lord wants my family and I to know and you to know as well, when we decide to step out on faith and actually do the will of God, the enemy will TRY to come in like a flood to derail us, BUT, it’s during these challenges, Christ is:

  1. Getting ready to show us Who HE really is  and show himself strong
  2.  Proving His faithfulness
  3. Showing us what’s really in us, strengths and weaknesses
  4. Preparing us for what’s to come so we can handle the next level in him
  5. Increasing our faith and obedience
  6. Teaching our hands to war and fingers to fight
  7. Giving us the opportunity to show us His miracle working power
  8. Giving us the opportunity to demonstrate walking in power and authority

The Lord is getting ready to shift the atmosphere in our lives, but during our storms, we have to hold onto our faith, prophesy God’s word to push back the enemy, stay on our knees in prayer and stay closely connected to Christ. As we stand in faith and advance against our enemy, The Lord will fight our battle and usher us into His Promise.  The Lord is coming to our rescue!!!

Continue to join me as I share with you what Christ is sharing with me about overcoming. As always, Be Encouraged, Stay Connected & Fight and Let’s Become Free Together!
