“Christ is Calling: Persevere & Complete Your Process To The End”

I know for most of us, at least for me, with certain things and at various times, I haven’t finished what I started. My weight for instance, I start off with a bang, but then somewhere along the line something happens and I start to go backwards.  For some of us, we put our minds to do something and start off great, but then, something happens and we either get comfortable, lax or start relishing too soon with our successes to the point where we lose momentum and begin reverting back to old habits. For many, we stop fighting for our goals because simply, it gets too hard. God is saying three words to me, to us, in this season, “Complete Your Process.”‘

In my prayer time, God lead me to these scriptures:

James 1:2-4 (GNT) say’s

2 …My friends, consider yourselves fortunate when all kinds of trials come your way, 3 for you know that when your faith succeeds in facing such trials, the result is the ability to endure. 4 Make sure that your endurance carries you all the way without failing, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing…

James 1:12 goes on to say,

12 Happy are those who remain faithful under trials, because when they succeed in passing such a test, they will receive as their reward the life which God has promised to those who love him.

Romans 5:3-5 (NIV) says,

3 …we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.

What does it mean to endure or persevere?

Webster say’s

ENDURE means to “bear, suffer, abide, tolerate, stand , to put up with something trying or painful. To bear usually implies the power to sustain without flinching or breaking.”

PERSEVERE means to “continue in a course of action even in the face of difficulty or with little or no prospect of success.

The synonyms of perseverance is to persist, continue, carry on, go on, keep on, keep going, struggle on, hammer away, be persistent, be determined, see/follow something through, keep at it, press on/ahead, not take no for an answer, be tenacious, stand one’s ground, stand fast/firm, hold on, go the distance, stay the course, plod on, stop at nothing, leave no stone unturned….

In this season, God is looking for His people to persist, press on and actually complete what He’s called us to do and what our hands have started. The end goal The Lord has for all of us is that through our trials, limitations and setbacks, He’s teaching us how to endure & persevere through the hard times and not give up.

In all three scriptures, the key concepts are exercise your faith, endure, and persevere through suffering until the end and receive your reward.

A perfect example to all of this is what my husband and I went through the other night. Since the year started, I’ve been plagued in my body and recently, so has my husband. The other evening, I had a banging headache and he came home from work with the same. We went to bed and his headache became worst while mine subsided. I can feel that our headaches were no ordinary headaches but an attack of the enemy.  As tired as we both were, we just started praying.

As I prayed, I felt the enemy blocking my prayers, it felt as though my prayers were hitting a wall and as tired as I was, I would have normally drifted back off to sleep, but we persisted in prayer for quite some time until we felt the presence of God come and the enemy leave. We felt that unclean spirit lift off of us and we glorified God.

That attack was confirmation of what God is looking for from us as a family and for His people.  He’s looking for His people to:

  • exercise our faith in the season of trials and suffering
  • endure, persevere and press into Him relentlessly
  • See to it that we endure suffering to the end, until our process, trials and deliverance is completed so we may receive His reward.

Be encouraged, our suffering is the making of us and if we press on no matter what, it’ll yield great rewards as we’re obedient to Him. Continue to join me as I share with you what Christ is sharing with me about overcoming.

As always, Be encouraged, Stay Connected, Fight and Let’s Become Free Together.
