Ke’Shawn Adamson is a lifetime resident of New Rochelle, NY. She attended the New Rochelle Public School System and later, obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications specializing in Advertising in addition to a Masters of Arts degree in Corporate Communications from Iona College in New Rochelle, New York.
Ke’Shawn grew up attending St. Catherine A.M.E. Zion Church in New Rochelle, NY, under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Michael J. Rouse Sr. until she married. After marrying, she joined her husband at his church, Gospel Tabernacle Church of Christ under the leadership of Elder Richard Adamson Sr., in New Rochelle, NY, where they both attend today. After marrying, she became a proud mother of two girls, Cydnei (age 16) and Elizabeth (age 5) and has now been married to her beautiful husband, Minister Richard Adamson II for almost 7 years.
Before having a family, she was an accomplished Children & Youth Services Manager with a diversified background working with college students, children and youth ages 5-21 in counseling, case management, life and study skills, college and work readiness as well as ran a New York State licensed school-aged childcare program. Her places of employment have ranged from Westchester County Department of Social Services, March of Dimes National Office, USA Today, Iona College, Greyston Foundation and more.
Her experience ranged from facilitating workshops and running multiple programs on: peer mentoring and tutoring, financial literacy and computer training, business entrepreneurship, life skills, conflict resolution/anti-bullying, college prep and work readiness. In addition, she was a Certified Health and Safety Trainer for the Office of Children and Family Services of New York State and SUNY Albany for Family & Group Family Childcare Centers. She also ran trainings on childcare and staff development in addition to holding a host of other credentials, certifications and trainings from various institutions and organizations.
After hitting the pavement and climbing the corporate ladder for many years, she realized at some point in her career the only thing that made her happy was helping people and later, began working in the human services field. Her real passion, joy and reward came when she was able to minister to people about Christ and helped them accomplish their goals.
During her years of developing her intimacy with God, the Lord placed in her a strong passion for learning how to tap into His presence, passion for intercessory prayer, the gift of leading and writing worship music, understanding spiritual warfare and deliverance and the skill of organization.
After having her daughter Elizabeth, she tried to go back to work in human services but God had other plans. Every door she tried to open for herself was closed. Any effort she attempted to make to get ahead was null and void. She had to learn to dig deeper in her faith and trust God for everything and during this time, she was stripped from every comfort she had ever known.
After a while, she eventually surrendered to the will of The Lord that He purposed for her to stay home to care for her family and sit at His feet. During that time, she was faithful to that call and instead of being a Manager in the workforce, she became the Manager of her own home. While home, she home-schooled her daughter Elizabeth preparing her for kindergarten, served as a help-mate to her husband, a support to her family in addition to further developing the gift of writing worship music and ministering in song at her church.
It was during this time, the Lord gifted her to hone the skill of worship and she began writing worship music, learned how to sit at the Lord’s feet to further develop intimacy with Him and really began to utilize the gift of intercessory prayer. Although she felt like that season was crushing her at times, it was this season that brought about many new births, gifts, new levels and a new trust in the Lord. During this season, she learned how to trust God with her everything.
But also, during this season of much discomfort and new births, she truly grappled with her weight. Having suffered with weight issues most of her life especially as an adult, her weight gain lead to her being morbidly obese which then later, affected her health. During the summer of 2015, the Lord stepped in and said enough is enough. The Lord spoke to her and was calling her to lose weight so she could fulfill her full potential and Christ’s ultimate purpose for her upon the earth. The Lord revealed to her that her fight to overcome her obesity was connected to her purpose upon the earth and He was holding her accountable.
During that summer, she began to tackle her weight problem and could feel the Lord putting a burning sense of urgency on her heart to go public about her weight loss struggles and journey. B.O.O.M! Breaking Obesity, Overcoming Morbidity! was birthed out of that calling.
B.O.O.M! is her blog site where she chronicles her journey of overcoming her obesity and morbidity, currently losing weight from 325 to 249 pounds, but B.O.O.M! is so much more than weight loss. B.O.O.M! is a community of people who not only want to lose weight, but desires to break free of every vice, habit, addiction, or damaging behavior that keeps them from fulling God’s greatest potential and His purpose for their lives.
B.O.O.M! is for anyone struggling with anything and desires freedom. This site offers information on her weight loss progress, eating and exercise regime, resources, spiritual insight from the Lord, scriptures, motivation and inspiration and so much more.
What sets B.O.O.M! apart from other blogs and weight loss communities is God’s ability to address and show people how to become delivered from “The Root” of their vice, habit, addiction, or damaging behavior internally, so they can change their behavior externally.
God has commissioned Ke’Shawn that as she overcomes, she shares with the people of God what He has taught and currently teaching her about deliverance and finding freedom in Christ. The key scripture God has always ministered to her regarding her calling is Isaiah 61:1,
“The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon me, for the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor.
He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted and to proclaim that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed.”
It is her prayer and the heart of God, that as she overcomes, she can help others overcome too, and they all, Become Free Together!
